Limerick musician NIYL gearing up for The Late Late Eurosong with ‘Growth’
NIYL has been announced as the final participant in Eurosong with his song ‘Growth’
Limerick-born artist NIYL has been announced as the final participant in Eurosong to gain a chance to represent Ireland in the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest

NIYL will take centre stage at the 2025 Eurosong competition, as he hopes to fly the flag for Ireland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland.
Performing his original song Growth, NIYL will compete in RTÉ’s The Late Late Show Eurosong Special on February 7 where the winner will be determined by public vote and a mixture of national and international judges.
Speaking with RTÉ Radio One’s Ray D’Arcy, NIYL shared his excitement with listeners, saying, “It’s been an exciting week, my God. The fandom has been kicking off and people have been very, very nice and lovely. I’m feeling pleasant.
“So I entered the song, I’ve been kind of writing an album for the past year, and this song jumped out as a particular one.”
Blending emotionally charged lyrics and electronic sounds, NIYL describes the song as if “Enya’s son goes to Berghain” as the singer is determined to amplify queer culture in Irish music.
Saying he always wanted to enter a song in the Eurovision, NIYL says he believes growth is a “banger”, he said receiving the phone call was a surprise having entered before Christmas and putting the idea out of his mind.
“I got the phone call out of the blue from the lovely Michael and I was shook to the core, like I was buzzing,” NIYL said.
With the Eurosong on the horizon, NIYL took a moment to pay gratitude to last year’s contestant, Bambie Thug, they said, “Without a shadow of a doubt, I think they really did open the doors for us. I think in terms of alternative music in particular, they were an absolute champion for it. As you can hear with all these other acts it’s there now and it’s showcasing the breadth of Irish talent.”
