Fundraiser to support Noel and Margaret Bolster rebuild their home
A fundraiser has started to help Noel and Margaret Bolster rebuild their family home following a devastating fire earlier in January 2026

The children of Noel and Margaret Bolster have created a fundraiser to help support their parents by rebuilding their home following a devastating fire on Friday, January 9, 2026.
The heroic couple put their own lives on the line to save their granddaughter in their home in a rural part of Ballysimon.
Writing on the fundraising page, their daughters, Nichola & Harriet Bolster, said, “On Friday the 9th of January 2026, a fire broke out at our parents’ home. With no thought for their own safety, they rushed to save their four-month-old granddaughter. Luckily, all three escaped without serious injury and have recovered well. Unfortunately, the house was completely destroyed.”
The fire destroyed what was more than just a house to the elderly couple who had a lifetime of memories and hard work attached to it.
“Their house was not just a house, it was a warm, welcoming home, where the door was always open to everyone. Many happy memories were made over the years. To create this home, that they were so proud of, they worked hard over countless years and invested all their time, money and love.”
The children say that with their parents now in their 70s, they would not be able to carry the financial burden alone to rebuild their home.
They said, “With our parents in their 70’s, they cannot carry this financial burden alone. Therefore, we would be so grateful to anyone who can contribute and help us to rebuild their home.”
With a target of €150,000, within the first day, support has been pouring in with more than €11,000 raised by 2 pm on Friday, January 16.
