Nóirín Ní Riains ordination to be marked by a special concert in Limerick
Nóirín Ní Riains ordination will be marked at an evening of entertainment at the restored church of St Johns in Knockainey this Wednesday, June 28 at 8 pm.
Nóirín Ní Riain from Caherconlish, Limerick, is a singer, writer, teacher and theologian, primarily known for her spiritual songs.
She did her studies at University College Cork in music, specialising in religious music for her post-graduate work.
The singer, who grew up by Lough Gur, has completed a two-year ministry course through Paul’s Cathedral in London.
The special concert to mark Nóirín Ní Riain ordination will see a number of guests attending including an astronaut and a comedian.
Special guests include comedian Jon Kenny, musicians Mícheál and Moley Ó Súilleabháin – Ni Riain’s son – and Apollo 15 NASA Astronaut Al Worden.
She will be ordained as an Interfaith Minister with One Spirit Interfaith Foundation Seminary, London, on July 29 at Reading University.
This ministry is recognised by the HSE in Ireland and, on ordination, she will be registered as a spiritual solemniser which means that she can legally perform weddings and ceremonies.
The concert is the initiative of Lough Gur Development which Nóirín, Jon and Al have been patrons since June 2015.
The Lough Gur Development Co-Operative Society is made up of local residents and organisations. It is a non-profit organisation and holds festivals and events to cover the running of the theatre and reinvestment into the Lough Gur Development Society for community activities.
