The harvest fair is a big day in the resource centre’s calendar. This year there will be a range of activities on the day including a free BBQ, children’s entertainment from Animal Magic and Limerick city sports partnership as well as face painting. There will also be music and much more.

Kate Stoica from the Northside Family Resource Centre told ilovelimerick that, “this event is a chance for members of the community to sign up to programmes and courses, meet our team and celebrate as a community all that the Northside has to offer.”

The Northside Family Resource Centre annual Suicide Remembrance Evening will also be taking place on September 13 at 7 pm. This is an opportunity for the residents of the Northside who have been affected by suicide to come together and hold a  candle lighting ceremony to remember those who are no longer here due to suicide.

The Northside Family Resource Centre has been in operation for over 30 years and provides a wide range of services and programmes to the residents of the Northside of Limerick city; including quality childcare and education, family support and counselling services, parenting programmes after-school and youth work services, meals on wheels, older persons services, community garden and a range of QQI and community education services.

The service was initially set up in 1987 from a small Council flat on Clonconnane Road in Ballynanty with the support of Limerick Social Services Council, Limerick City Council and a congregation of outreach sisters led by Sr Ursula O’Reagan.

The Northside Family Resource Centre has been helping the areas of Moyross, Ballynanty, Kileely and Thomondgate, as well as Shelbourne and Ennis Road, Farranshone, Caherdavin, Woodview, Red Gate for years and, have been helping to make the community a better place for all. The harvest fair is a token event the resource centre hosts and is set to be their biggest event of the year
