Novas Christmas Fundraiser Includes Sleep-Out and Carol Service

A Christmas Sleep-Out and a Carol Service in aid of Novas services will take place in the city this weekend, Friday 16th December and Sunday 18th December.

The weekend before Christmas is traditionally a busy time for fundraising throughout the country and in Limerick this year, it is no exception. There are two events being run in aid of Novas, the largest homeless services providers in the city.

On Friday night 16th of December, a group of Novas volunteers will be joined by the students of Shannon College of Hotel Management to Sleep Under the Stars in their annual Christmas Sleep Out. The event will take place outside Brown Thomas on O’Connell Street from 9pm until the early hours of Saturday morning. All proceeds of the event will go directly to supporting Novas’ frontline services in the city.

If you would like to participate in the event you can contact [email protected]. If you are out celebrating in the city on Friday night, please pop by and give generously.

On Sunday evening 18th December, another wonderful group of volunteers – The Limerick Gospel Choir – are hosting a feast of Christmas songs and carols at 6pm in St. Michael’s Church, Denmark Street in Limerick. Entry to this festive event is free and there will be a bucket collection in aid of Novas. All the family are welcome to this wonderful Christmas event.

Last year Novas supported more than 2,400 people nationally. More than half of these were from Limerick. The organisation provides a range of services in the city including temporary accommodation, a family service, an out-of-hours service, long-term housing and a street outreach. Please give what you can.

So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
