The Old Quarter is calling on the public to “be an Angel this Christmas” by supporting The Old Quarter Angel Tree appeal in aid of Adapt House
As Christmas draws near and the heart of Limerick begins to glow with festive cheer, we’re reminded that while the season brings joy to many, it can also be a difficult time for families facing hardship.
This year, the Old Quarter is bringing a new appeal to Limerick City and is calling on the public to “be an Angel this Christmas” and support its chosen charity, Adapt House which women affected by domestic abuse with tailored guidance, resources, and services to empower and rebuild lives.
Organisers of the Old Quarter Angel Tree Appeal said, “This year, there’s a simple way for all of us to help bring a little magic to local children who need it most, by taking part in our Angel Tree Appeal in aid of Adapt House, proudly hosted at The Old Quarter Pub & Townhouse on Little Ellen Street.

The appeal, organised by Catherine, Operations Manager at The Old Quarter, invites customers and visitors to be an “angel” for a child supported by ADAPT House, a Limerick-based refuge that provides vital services to women and children escaping domestic abuse.
The initiative works through the “Angel Tree”, now standing in the heart of The Old Quarter, is decorated with special tags, each representing a child who might otherwise go without a gift this Christmas.
Simply take a tag, purchase a suitable present, and return it unwrapped to The Old Quarter. Every gift will go directly to a child in ADAPT House, bringing them a little hope and happiness during what can be a very challenging time.
The appeal will run for four weeks, giving everyone in the community the chance to get involved. Whether you’re stopping by for a meal, meeting friends for a festive drink, or simply passing through the city centre, take a moment to choose an angel and make a real difference.
Each gift is more than just a toy or a treat; it’s a message of compassion from one Limerick heart to another. It tells these children that they are seen, valued, and loved by their community.
The organisers said, “This Christmas, let’s show the true spirit of Limerick, generosity, kindness, and togetherness. Be an angel. Take a tag. Bring a gift. Brighten a child’s Christmas. The Angel Tree Appeal runs between November 13 and December 18 at The Old Quarter on Little Ellen Street.”
