Thousands will traverse the many spaces of the iconic Opera Square site when completed in 2027, but the public will get the opportunity to have its first view of the emerging project this coming weekend.

Developers of the project Limerick Twenty Thirty are inviting the public to a viewing day at the vast site on Saturday next, some nine months after work on the first new build, One Opera Square, on the 3.7acre site commenced.

However, such has been the progress of the One Opera Square build, which is a joint venture between Limerick Twenty Thirty and the Ireland Strategic investment Fund, that it has already reached top floor level and recently celebrated its ‘topping out’ ceremony.

And this, together with the extensive basement works across the wider site that are being quickly advanced, sees Limerick Twenty Thirty satisfied that it is time for the public to get a first view of what’s in behind the hoarding.

Viewings will take place on Saturday next, November 9th, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, providing the public with an exclusive opportunity to step onto the site and witness the scale of the biggest project of its kind ever undertaken outside of the capital and the rapid progress being made by Limerick Twenty Thirty and contractors John Sisk and Son.

Visitors will be escorted to a viewing area inside the hoarding and receive a briefing from Limerick Twenty Thirty’s Project Management Team.

Entry to the site will be via the security desk on Michael Street, with a group being taken every 30 minutes.  No safety wear is needed as the viewing point is safe and accessible for all visitors.

CEO of Limerick Twenty Thirty David Conway said it’s an opportunity for the public to witness what for many will be the surprising scale of the project.

“When you’re driving around the site and it’s behind the hoarding, you’ve really no sense of the scale of the Opera Square project. Every person, without fail, who comes in here for the first time is amazed at the vastness and, indeed, at the level of works going on.

Members of the public who want to attend Saturday’s viewing are asked to book online with Limerick Twenty Thirty

“The One Opera Square project has been a perfect example of this. It’s six storeys above ground and won’t be the tallest build by any sense, with the 14-storey Bank Place project towering over it. Yet its scale and the speed with which it has gone up is so impressive.

“Attendees will also be very taken with the scale of the basement works around the site generally and will get a good sense of the footprint of the site and what’s going to come out of it.

Members of the public who want to attend Saturday’s viewing are asked to book online with Limerick Twenty Thirty via their website or by email to [email protected] for access.

Tickets are limited so the public is urged to move early if they want to attend.
