Opera enthusiasts and theatre lovers in Limerick will be treated to the world premiere of ‘The Ballybruff Trilogy’, a groundbreaking new work by composer Luke Byrne and libretto by Shirley Keane.

Presented by Opera Workshop, ‘The Ballybruff Trilogy’ promises to be a riotous exploration of life in 1970s rural Ireland.

Made up of three short operas, the show delves into tales of heartache, bitterness, and frustrations around the fictional parish of Ballybruff. Each opera stands as a self-contained story, yet they seamlessly link together, bringing tales of passion, revenge, and simmering hatred amidst the backdrop of strong, black tea.

The cast of six talented singers will bring these characters to life as they are joined by a five-piece ensemble under the baton of composer Luke Byrne himself.

‘The Ballybruff Trilogy’ will come to the Belltable, O’Connell Street with performances on Wednesday, May 29, Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June1 with performances opening at 7:30pm.
