Speaking about the upcoming recruitment drive current Officer in Charge of the Limerick Unit Lieutenant Bryan Crosby said, “Members of all ages and abilities are welcome in the unit. You do not necessarily need first aid experience to join the unit, all training will be provided. Initially, all new members will be trained to the level of Cardiac First responder, enabling them to use a defibrillator and perform CPR. In addition, they will undergo child protection training and manual handling training also. After a time, if they wish to opt for further training to the levels of First Aid responder and Emergency First Responder this avenue could be pursued within the organisation.”

Deputy Officer in Charge Sergeant David O Sullivan went on to explain that apart from providing medical aid there are many other roles available to people in the unit if they wish to volunteer such as driving, administration support, vehicle maintenance and assisting with their cadet/youth section.

An introductory training day will take place on Saturday, July 20. To register a place for the day contact Dave at [email protected]. For more information regarding recruitment into the youth section (10-16-year-old) and to be placed on the September waiting list contact Amy at [email protected]
