Limerickman Padraic Frawley is the creator of the Cornstore restaurants in Limerick and Cork, Coqbull restaurants in Limerick and the East London Pub Company. His latest venture is the revival of a Clapham pub ‘The Saxon’ in South London after almost four years of refurbishment work.

Padraic has twelve businesses now located in Munster and London and plans to expand even further. He started his entrepreneurial journey in 1999 with an idea around serving locally sourced food and great drinks with passion! Cornstore Restaurants in both Cork and Limerick boomed almost from the get-go. Coqbull Restaurants followed suit.  In recent years, a move to London saw Padraic establish the East London Pub Company.

The East London Pub Co Ltd was founded in 2014 with its first venue The infamous Ten Bells in Spitalfields. The East London Pub Co is led by Padraic Frawley who has a great passion for creating the best drinking holes in London.

Padraic commented, “The Saxon is the first plan to come to fruition in an exciting year for the group and we are set to open three more venues by the end of the year. I believe whilst the day to day running of an excellent venue is no mean feat, the basis of what makes an establishment great is very simple. Product, service and atmosphere are the key elements to any East London PubCo venue. Our mission is to produce character-rich spaces by creating unique venues offering a modern-day pub experience built on traditional values.”

East London Pub Co completely revamped the formerly tiny rundown ‘Kazbar’ and turned it into a four-storey site with DJs and a roof terrace. There will also be private rooms available for hire, with one known as The Playroom.

The anticipated full opening follows a long wait as a pop-up pub serving takeaway pints and cocktails. The new venture – which officially opened Monday, June 14 – will now seat 220 and, alongside craft beers, wine and cocktails will offer a menu of small plates. Dishes will include gastropub favourites; burrata, popcorn chicken, wings, and later the kitchen will serve both brunch and a Sunday Roast.

Innovative Padraic is hoping the Saxon will become a local hotspot, and the pub will boast its own resident DJs on Friday nights. It will be open seven days a week.

Padraic added, “Thank you sincerely for all the warm and heartfelt wishes on our latest Clapham opening! The continued expansion of this company is only possible with the support of the extraordinary people that have been beside me and behind me every step of the way. Many for almost 20 years in Ireland. You’re the life and soul of this company.” Congrats Padraic! Making Limerick proud!!
