Limerick Park Village Retirement Village Work Syndicate Win €111,972 Lotto Prize

A syndicate of nine friends who work at the Park Village Retirement Village in Castletroy celebrated in the National Lottery Winner’s Room today as they picked up a cheque for €111,972, won on Lotto and discovered that they bought their first ever Lotto ticket as a syndicate EXACTLY ten years ago to the day!

The syndicate of nine dubbed the “Park Village Team”, were in great form as five of the winning friends came up to Dublin to collect the cheque. They won €111,972 on last Wednesday’s Lotto draw (30th October) after matching five numbers and the bonus – falling one number shy of the entire jackpot.

A spokesperson for the Park Village Retirement Village, Pat Ryan said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won. The day after the draw, Halloween, I was scrolling through Facebook and saw in an article that there was a winning ticket sold in the shop where we buy ours. I jumped out of the bed and grabbed the ticket, scanned it on the National Lottery App and the message came up congratulating us and asking us to get in touch with the Lottery. It was a surreal moment. I waited until work the next morning before I told the rest of the gang.”

He continued, “There are nine of us in the syndicate so that’s a really nice early Christmas bonus for us all to get. We are ten years buying our Lotto tickets in it and it was only when the Lottery claims manager returned with the cheque, did he tell us that we bought our first ticket as a syndicate this day, ten years ago. It’s incredible!”

The “Park Village” syndicate bought their winning ticket at the Dunnes Stores in the Jetland Shopping Centre, Ennis Road, Co. Limerick. Each of the nine members will get a cool €12,440 which they say will give them all a really good Christmas!

Another winning ticket shared the match five and bonus prize that evening which meant the total €223,943 prize was split between the two winning tickets. The other ticket was sold online.

Almost 30 cents in every euro spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes all over Ireland in the areas of sport, health, arts, culture, heritage, youth, community, and the Irish language. Last year alone more than €228 million was raised for Good Causes, the equivalent of €625,000 a day.
