Pat Cummins completes Mizen to Malin Head cycle challenge with more than €20,000 raised for Mid-Western Cancer Foundation ahead of Lands End to John O’Groats cycle

Pat Cummins enters second leg of cycle challenge raising over €20,000 for Mid-Western Cancer Foundation
With €20,217 raised as of Thursday, August 20, Pat shared his thanks for his supporters.

Pat Cummins completes the first leg of his cycling challenge, conquering the 652 km from Mizen to Malin in Ireland over 5 days, eclipsing his initial €20,000 goal for Mid-Western Cancer Foundation ahead of his 1600km from Lands End to John O’Groats in Britain over 14 days, raising funds for Mid-Western Cancer Foundation.

With €20,217 raised as of Thursday, August 20, Pat shared his thanks for his supporters. He said, “I want to express my sincere appreciation for the incredible support I’ve received throughout my traversing of both Ireland and Britain fundraising cycle challenges for the Mid‑Western Cancer Foundation.

“The encouragement from friends, neighbours, and colleagues in the building industry has played a huge part in motivating me to get out, train, and stay committed.”

Pat’s involvement with Patrickswell Cycling Club set the “spark” to ignite the fundraiser. He told I Love Limerick, “Their support, camaraderie, and belief in what we were doing made it possible for both myself and 14 other club cyclists to complete the 562km Mizen to Malin cycle challenge in early August. That achievement wasn’t just a personal milestone — it helped raise awareness for the vital work carried out by the Mid‑Western Cancer Foundation.”

He added, “The generosity of the community and everybody is clear in the steady flow of support and donations to the iDonate fundraising page, which has now passed the €20,000 mark. My goal is to raise €30,000, and with the continued support of the people around me, I’m confident we can reach it.”

Pat’s involvement with Patrickswell Cycling Club set the “spark” to ignite the fundraiser.

Pat’s training schedule will continue through August as he prepares for the 1600km cycle from Lands End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in Scotland starting September 5.

Pat added, “I will personally cover all of my travel, accommodation and cycling expenses. This means that every euro donated goes directly to the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation, helping those who need it most.”

With a message to his supporters, he said, “Thank you to everyone who has contributed, encouraged, or supported this effort. Your kindness is making a real difference.”
