Pat Cummins is taking on an epic cycling challenge over 19 days in support of Mid-Western Cancer Foundation
Pat Cummins is taking on two cycling challenges: 652 km from Mizen to Malin in Ireland over 5 days, and 1600km from Lands End to John O’Groats in Britain over 14 days, raising funds for Mid-Western Cancer Foundation.
With an initial target of €20,000, Pat is confident that with the support of the public he can reach and even surpass the fundraising target, having already raised more than €12,000 as of July 22, 2026.
Writing on his iDonate page, Pat says, “Thanks to all of you for the incredible support you have given to me in the past to raise in excess of €40,000 for Vision Ireland. I could not have done it without your help and generosity.

“It’s now 26 years since I did my last epic long haul Charity Cycle Challenge across America, 4,800km over 25 days in the company of the greats Sean Kelly and Treacy Pigott. We were all younger then! And now I’m ready for this new cycling challenge.”
This year, Pat is taking on two challenging cycles in Ireland and Britain, he said, “I am taking on not one, but two of the greatest cycling challenges across Ireland and Britain – all to raise vital funds for the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation. My fundraising target with your help is €20,000.
“With your help and generous support I think we can achieve and surpass this target. Every cent you give will help people who need the services provided by the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation. Thank you for this support.”
With his cycle underway, Pat is making his way up the length of the country from Mizen Head in Cork to Malin Head in Donegal over five days and just a few weeks later, he travels to Britain to take on an almost 1600 km journey from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in Scotland over 14 days.
Pat added, “I will personally cover all of my travel, accommodation and cycling expenses. This means that every euro donated goes directly to the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation, helping those who need it most.”
The Mid-Western Cancer Foundation provides essential services and supports to cancer patients and their families throughout the Mid-West of Ireland. While the Foundation receives limited funding, it relies heavily on the generosity of the public to continue delivering many of its services—all provided free of charge to patients and their families. Support is provided to family members and patients with a cancer diagnosis, whether the patient is having treatment or not.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help ensure that cancer patients and their families continue to receive support during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
