On April 10, 2026, the Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention (LTSP) group officially concluded its heartfelt “Patrol for Little Heroes” campaign, presenting a total of €5,000 to the Children’s Ark at University Hospital Limerick (UHL). The campaign, designed to support the city’s youngest patients and their families, was defined by community spirit and a series of high-energy fundraising initiatives throughout the season.

The campaign kicked off with a gruelling 24-hour patrol in December. Members of LTSP patrolled Limerick’s three bridges from 6:00 AM on Friday, the 19th of December, through to 6:00 AM Saturday morning. This endurance event mirrored the organisation’s daily commitment to the city, translated into a mission of solidarity for the children in the Ark.

Following the patrol, the group pivoted to a night of community fun with a table quiz at Nancy Blake’s. The event was a massive success, reaching maximum capacity and raising an impressive €1,200 in additional donations through a friendly trivia competition and local support.

The final element, “Notes of Hope,” added a deeply personal touch to the fundraising. LTSP invited the public to write messages of encouragement, joy, and hope for the families and children currently receiving care. These messages were curated into a vibrant poster, providing a lasting gift of emotional support alongside the financial contribution.

The culmination of the campaign took place at UHL, where the LTSP team was greeted by Linda Fahy, Business Manager, Maternal and Child Health Directorate, and members of the Children’s Ark team. The hospital plans to put the donation toward essential resources such as equipment for play therapy

During the cheque presentation, the committee of LTSP reflected on the impact of the campaign. David, LTSP Public Relations Officer, said, “This is what LTSP is all about, supporting others and giving back when we can.”

Amy Dawson, Fundraising Officer, said, “It was an absolute honour to be able to raise these funds for this incredible organisation that goes above and beyond for all the little hero’s in Limerick city. I believe this is only a start for our ‘patrol for little heroes’ campaign.”

Matt Collins, Chairperson, said that “it was absolutely wonderful to give back” to the community in such a tangible way, with Ronald Collins, Roster officer, adding, “The Ark is filled with unsung heroes, I’m glad we have been able to give back to them through this campaign”

This remarkable effort highlights the power of community unity
