PELT Ultimate Frisbee open the call for new players who want to “try your hand at a new sport”
Established in 2012, PELT Ultimate is an ultimate frisbee club based in Limerick, ‘Ultimate’ is a 7-a-side sport played on an American football-sized pitch and has Open, Women’s and Mixed divisions.
PELT have competed all over the world in places such as Europe, America and Australia, and many of its athletes have competed for Ireland.
Speaking about the growth of sport in Ireland, the team spokesperson said, “We were also heavily involved in organising two major Championships in the University of Limerick, The European Championships in 2023 and the World Masters Club Championships in 2022 which saw thousands of athletes descend on Limerick.”
This year PELT have put a particular focus on the Mixed division and it has certainly paid off! PELT Mixed qualified for the European Championships recently in Warsaw and will head to Osteend, Belgium at the end of September to compete for the European Crown.
PELT headed to Warsaw for Summer Invite and got all the points they needed to qualify in 11th place for EUC. Staring off the Saturday strong winning the first 3 games and narrowly losing to tournament winner, Estonian side, Tartu Ultimate Spordiklubi on Universe which is a game the group are “hugely proud of”.

There is also a team in the University of Limerick if you are heading to college and looking to try something new! We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays on Maguires pitches from 6-8pm and are always open to new players.
