An essential and vitally important intervention for sick people and their families, Milford Hospice depends to a great extent on the generosity of people. Fundraising is very important and every year individuals and communities around the region organise activities to help maintain this important service. Milford Hospice 10km Run Walk 2015 was held on Sunday 25th January at the University of Limerick with a new start time of 12.00 noon. The 10km was open to runners and walkers of all levels and abilities with all of the proceeds going directly to Milford Hospice. According to Pat Quinlan chief executive of Milford Care Centre, “This event has become a popular annual fun activity and the community support we continue to receive is the backbone to the services being provided by Milford. Without public support and contributions, the hospice services would struggle to deliver the care, comfort and dignity that patients and their families require and deserve. We would appeal to the community to join in on the day by running, jogging or walking as it’s an event we would really like to see grow”.

The 10km route congregated on the UL Plaza for warm up prior to starting at Kilmurry Village, winding its way round the campus and Plassey Road before finishing on the UL track.
