Seven students were honoured by family and friends yesterday as part of their graduation ceremony in St Augustine’s School on Sexton Street.  

Students Martin O’Leary, Robert Woodland, Aaron Griffen, Faith Enright, Shuranne Crawford, Courtney Murphy and Wesley Joyce were congratulated and presented with an official certificate of their achievements for their amazing accomplishment

Acting principal of the school Maeve Lynch said “It was a very moving event for all of us, we feel privileged and honoured to be here today with these amazing young people.” 

Maeve had high praise for all the students who she said are “truly amazing and talented on so many levels.”

These students are now planning on transitioning to further education and training and will be sitting their Junior Cert exams next week. 

Speaking at the event was Father Noel Hessainwho said a prayer for the six students and applauded them for their hard work and amazing accomplishment. Also present at the ceremony was Limerick singer Michelle Grimes who performed a number of moving songs for the attendees. 

Other awards were handed out yesterday as part of the end of year school awards. These included medals for participation and integrity, with the student of the year award being awarded to Anthony O’Callaghan.  

After the ceremony, students and family members were invited outside in the beautiful weather for food and refreshments. Attendees got a chance to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful sun together along with delicious food as a way of finishing off the incredible ceremony.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
