Inspired by the history of Limerick’s bacon industry, the 3rd Pigtown Culture and Food Series offers an exciting program of themed events throughout September and October developed by the Limerick Food Group. The series will focus on Limerick’s unique heritage showcasing the great food available locally and building on the county’s deep-rooted food heritage.

The creative brains behind the initiative include some of Limerick’s top hotels, restaurants and visitor attractions including The Limerick Strand Hotel, The Green Onion, Treaty City Beer and No. 1 Pery Square Hotel are joining forces to present “The Limerick Food Mile”, a unique culinary experience, reflecting the resilience and passion of the people of Limerick.

To celebrate the launch of “The Limerick Food Mile” they are hosting a special evening on Thursday, September 26th, 2019. The event kicks-off from 6:00 pm and consists of an exclusive 3-course meal, each course served at a different hotel/restaurant with each Executive Chef proudly presenting a course consisting of exciting innovative Pigtown Themed locally sourced food along with a tour of Treaty City Brewery.

Troy Chauffer’s have also come on-board so there’s no need to worry about traveling from one establishment to the other as they shall transfer guests between each location in Luxury. The Limerick Food Mile Evening Package inclusive of the 3-course dinner, Treaty City Beer with each course, Treaty City Brewery Tour and transport to each venue. Cost €65 per person plus booking fee. As this is a unique event places are strictly limited to 48 people.

The participating places are The Limerick Strand Hotel – Mulcahy’s Wild Boar, Rigney’s Pork & Black Pudding Sausage, O’Brien Mature Cheddar Colcannon, Urban Farmer Beetroot & Attyflin Estate Apple Jus, The Green Onion Café – Kildimo Beef Pie braised in Treaty City Harris Pale Ale, Ballyhoura Wild Foraged Mushrooms Puff Pastry Cap, Potato & Horseradish Puree, No1 Pery Square – Autumn Sweet Treats served fireside and finally each course is paired with Treaty City beer (wine shall be offered to non-beer drinkers), the evening also includes a full tour of Treaty City Brewery.

Back by popular demand, Swine & Wine returns to the Limerick Strand this autumn. The Swine & Wine dinner takes place on Friday, October 25, at 7.30 pm.  “Swine & Wine” is an amazing four-course wine tasting dinner, featuring the best local and seasonal ingredients served in the AA * River Restaurant. Executive Chef Tom Flavin has prepared an exceptional tasting dinner with dishes such as:

Spiced Pork Rillettes, Cucumber & Onion Pickle

Rigney’s Smoked Rare Breed Pork Sausage, Potato, Pan Seared Sextons Cod Chorizo and Peas

Slow Cooked Irish Wagyu Beef Fondant potato, Ballyhoura Mushrooms Ballyporeen Bacon

Local Plums and Pears
