The Polish Arts Festival 2019 presents Julia on Saturday, September 21 at The Belltable. This is a night of performance, theatre, dance, and improvisation. Join us and see how little we differ and how much Irish and Polish people have in common.

The Polish Arts Festival 2019 celebrates 12 years in Limerick 

 

The Polish Arts Festival has been celebrating 12 years in Limerick. We are very proud to have been selected as one of the Made in Limerick Projects by the Limerick City of Culture 2014. The Polish Arts Festival aims to promote the different facets of the Pole abroad as a worker, an artist, a member of the local community and a contributor to European cultural heritage. Although we’re far from home, we reach to our roots so we can teach our children what it means to be Polish.
 

The Polish Arts Festival is back this year with a list of various events taking place over the two week period. This year’s festival theme is Identity. The official opening takes place on Thursday, September 19, at 6pm in The Hunt Museum by Mayor of Limerick and Polish Ambassador to Ireland and will feature the exhibition of the artists associated with the Icon Factory in Dublin: Aga Szot, Kevin Bohan, Paweł Jasinski, Mel White, Iwona Kreciwilk, Iulian Bocancea, Katarzyna Sliwa. Open daily, 10 am – 5 pm, The Hunt Museum Café.

On Culture Night, Friday, September 20,  a concert with the Limerick Choral Union and Polish IMU choir from Słupsk is taking place at 8 pm, St. Michael’s Church. Also in The Hunt Museum at 5.30pm Design Your Own Brooch workshop by a Polish designer Iwona Bielwaska will then be followed by a Fashion Show of her collection at 7 pm.

On Saturday, September 21, the festival presents Julia the main highlight event from 8 pm – 9 pm in the Belltable. This is a night of performance, theatre, dance, and improvisation. Join them and see how much Irish and Polish people have in common.  The festival continues on Thursday,  September 26, in The Hunt Museum at 6 pm, Simon Thompson presents Lifted Up. This is a show for parents, friends, and people living with or next to a person with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The show is nonverbal, physical theatre performed in a full mask. 

Friday, September 27, hosts Poetry Night with three beautiful Polish writers and poets at the Old Quarter House, Little Ellen Street at 7 pm. Performing that night will be, Anna Ras Menet, Monika Barabasz, and Sylwia K. Malinowska.

All About My Mother Project will take place in The Hunt Museum on Saturday,  October 5, at 2 pm facilitated by Dr. Anca Minescu with a choreographed dancing session by Ewa Kotuła. This is a very interesting project about giving away power to your child and allowing him/her to style you up the way that he/she sees you.  On Sunday,  October  6, Ewa Kotuła offers In Search of Self dance therapy workshop from 12 pm – 3 pm in The Old Quarter House, Little Ellen Street.
