A Polish Arts Festival Open Call is currently taking place for an exhibition themed: “Together as One – My Covid-19 Experience”. Deadline for submissions is October 22, 2020 at 5pm.

Polish Arts Festival is an organisation funded by Arts Council, Limerick City and County Council, Creative Ireland, Polish Embassy in Dublin and private sponsors.
The Polish Arts Festival Open Call exhibition is highly accessible to artists, presented in the context of an established gallery space of The Hunt Museum Café with a dedicated tradition towards showcasing the talent across the sector. Its focus is on early/ mid-career, emerging artists and recent graduates, who demonstrate their potential with the quality of their work, and their ambition to challenge and test their practice in the public realm.
Submissions from visual artists for the Polish Arts Festival Open Call are now sought for a 2-week exhibition from 26th November – 13th December, 2020 in The Hunt Museum and online. Solo, 2-person and collaborative projects will be considered, and we welcome projects/bodies of work that are completed/near completion, or work in progress with clearly expressed outcomes, across all contemporary visual art forms. The theme of the exhibition is “Together as One – My Covid-19 Experience”. Artists are asked to include in their proposal a story associated with the work they produced under the theme (max 1 page).

What the artist gets: All rental and associate gallery costs paid, transport of work, invigilation, printed and online marketing, publicity and social media.
How to apply: Applicants should fill in the accompanying application form, and return to the Polish Arts Festival email with the exact subject line: “Together as One – My Covid-19 Experience Exhibition Application Form” including the following:
For individuals: 1 x Word Document/PDF including: maximum 1 page of text outlining your proposal including a story of the work; a brief bio (max 250 words); a maximum of 3 images; max 1 link to video/audio work; CV including any recent/forthcoming shows.
For 2-person or collaborative work: 1 x Word Document/PDF including: maximum 1 page of text outlining your proposal including a story of the work; group & individual bios (1page total); maximum of 6 images; max 2 links to video/audio work; CV of artists including any recent/forthcoming shows.
Further info on the Open Call Exhibition: The project aims to provide a platform for artists to produce and exhibit work of merit across all visual art forms and media; to further the opportunities for the artist’s practice and career as an outcome of the exhibition; to develop audiences for the artist; and develop new audiences for contemporary art and artist-led practice. Polish Arts Festival aim to act as an incubator for early careers, and support artists’ practices at crucial stages. The exhibition demonstrates the value of – and very real need for – an accessible gallery space for artists to take part in short-run exhibition, and with a focus on emerging and underrepresented
Polish artists. This model is an alternative to the normal institutional/commercial model, where the process of studio visit to exhibition can take several years. As such, emerging artists with productive studio practices can have difficulty in securing solo exhibitions in established venues, and reaching new audiences, both professional and public. The project reflects what artists are currently making taking into account the Covid-19 Pandemic reality and encourages experimentation and risk-taking. These artist initiated exhibition put the artist and their ideas at the heart of the project.
Please note: Works will be selected through a competitive open call process, and will be selected by Polish Arts Festival Committee. Successful artists will be notified and offered entry. The dates for the exhibition are 26th November – 13 December 2020. Successful candidates should have the works delivered to The Hunt Museum, Ruthland Street, Limerick by 20.11.2020. The exhibition opens on 26th Novemeber 2020 in The Hunt Museum. The decision of PAF Committee is final in respect of submissions. Due to the volume of applications PAF may not be able to provide feedback. Due to the self-directed nature of the project the exhibition is envisaged to be primarily aimed at artists who are Polish or have Polish connections/ related interests that should be demonstrated in the application. opencall
