There was huge pride in Limerick after two young Shannon Rowing Club rowers, Aaron Sheehan and Cace Macmillan, earned selection to represent Ireland at the prestigious Home International Regatta in London.

The achievement represents the culmination of almost a year of dedicated training, commitment and sacrifice, with the selection process beginning in September 2025 and ultimately leading to the pair pulling on the Ireland colours and competing at international level in July 2026.

Michael O’Callaghan, Captain of Shannon Rowing Club and lead coach for the Junior Men Sweep Team, said the entire club was extremely proud of what young Shannon Rowing Club rowers Aaron and Cace had achieved.

“Everyone in Shannon Rowing Club Limerick are very proud that Aaron and Cace got selected to Row for Ireland at the Home International Regatta recently,” said Michael.

“This achievement is a great reward for their commitment to all the training and sacrifice that they took on.”

The road to international selection was not a short one. It began in September 2025, with the young rowers embarking on a demanding programme of training and competition designed to give them the opportunity to progress to the highest level.

Over the following months, Aaron and Cace had to demonstrate not only their ability on the water but also the consistency, discipline and determination required to remain on the pathway towards international selection.
