Queerbash 15 set for April 5 in Dolan’s Warehouse

Limerick’s longest-running LGBTQ+ night out, Queerbash 15, returns to Dolan’s Warehouse on 5th April. Queerbash 15, organised by Out in UL, is one of the oldest annual events in University of Limerick and will be coming into its landmark fifteenth year of running.

The celebration, which brings the LGBTQ community and the wider Limerick community together for a spectacular night, was set up by the late Paddy McHugh as a way of bringing communities together while also reclaiming the term ‘Queerbash’ in a positive manner in 2002.

At the time, it was also a response to strong violence against the queer community.

The theme for Queerbash 15 will be Space: It’s out of this world, meaning you can come in all your best gear for intergalactic travel, or as one of your sci-fi favourites.

“Queerbash is such an iconic event in UL’s history. I’m so glad to be able to help organise it again this year and to help it along in its 15-year evolution into what it is today,” says Current Out in UL Co-President Abraham Blake.

Queerbash 15 will include fantastic local Limerick acts such as Winner and Runner-up of Alternative Miss UL (AMUL) 2018 Royal Pain and Sarah Tonin as well as performances from UL Drama Society and BA Voice and Dance graduates.

There will also be a live performance from UL Music Society’s “The Shades” and live DJ Eoghan Clark on the night.

Out in UL Co-President Luke Slattery said: “I’m very happy to say that we’ll be featuring talent from all over Limerick this year. Queerbash is sure to bring the straight and queer community together for an unforgettable night of outrageous fun.”

The door for the event will open at 9:00 pm, April 5th in Dolan’s Warehouse. Ticket price will be €10 and can be bought at the door.
