Do the Barringtons Great Limerick Run to raise vital funds for Novas

People are urged to participate in Barringtons Great Limerick Run to raise vital funds for Novas.

Novas is thrilled to be one of the chosen charity partners of the Barringtons Great Limerick Run. Being the largest provider of homeless services in Limerick and throughout the Mid-West, the organisation is calling on people to make their run count and raise vital funds for Novas to support more and more homeless households in our local communities.

Last year Novas supported 3,552 people who were homeless, at risk of homelessness or socially excluded. This was an increase of 45% from the previous year and highlights the extent of the crisis nationally. Una burns, Communications Manager with Novas said ‘the greatest increase was among families experiencing homelessness. Last year our Intensive Family Support service in the city supported 196 families with more than 450 children. This was an increase of 100% from the previous year. Similarly, our accommodation services have experienced unprecedented demand with referrals to McGarry House increasing by 400% in the twelve month period.’

Burns went on to say that Novas is ‘thrilled to be one of the selected charity partners of The Barrington’s Hospital Great Limerick Run. She said that ‘while Novas provides services nationally, the organisation was founded in Limerick in 2002, the majority of its services including its Head Office is based there and the majority of its clients are from Limerick. It is a great opportunity for Novas to highlight the homeless issue in the region and raise money to enable us to support more and more people experiencing homelessness.’
