Limerick band Randolf & the Crokers new video for ‘Home’ has been released, taken from their upcoming EP ‘Tales of Little lanes’ out on November 3rd.

The EP was recorded and mixed in the Lakelands Studios in Athlone by Mike O’Dowd and mastered in Limerick by Richard Dowling of Wav Mastering.

The EP marks a significant evolution for the band. Having spent the last two years gigging, writing and recording, there is a definite sense of growth and confidence in these new tracks. The songs showcase this new direction, both lyrically and musically, whilst still staying true to the unique blend of folk/country/blues influences of the band’s roots.

This new EP illustrates the band’s broad and varied musical style, with carefully crafted harmonies and meaningful lyrics a constant feature. The band’s collective approach to songwriting has produced a set of songs that move fluidly from the reflective and bluesy to the heartfelt and political. The gentle folky feel of Village by the Sea serves as perfect opener to this set of ‘tales’ and is perfectly juxtaposed with the swagger of Make Believe.  Home – the lead single – is a song inspired by the heartbreak of immigration and homelessness that often leaves people voiceless in our society. This frenzied battle cry is followed by the confident and stirring So Long to Summer, a fitting finale that showcases the band at full strength.

The six piece have playing original music in Limerick since 2011. 2014 marked the release of their first single Hangin’, and debut EP Conversation Amongst the Ruins followed in 2015. The first release garnered positive reactions from audiences and critics alike. The band toured the EP around Ireland in 2015/2016 taking in venues such as Dolan’s, Whelan’s in Dublin, DeBarra’s of Clonakilty and Kenny’s in Lahinch, and sharing the stage with the likes of Mark Geary, The Lost Brothers, O Emperor and John Blek and the Rats. A particular highlight of 2015 was playing a number of tracks for  ‘Ceol ar an Imeall’ on TG4.

2016 was spent writing and playing a splattering of gigs including the Doolin Folk Festival, the Blues, Roots and Brass Festival in Whelan’s, and local gigs headlining the Thomond Sessions here in Limerick.

In June 2017, the band were honoured to play the garden party in Áras an Uachtaráin at the invitation of President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina Higgins. The band played alongside Duke Special, Beoga and the Strypes at this once in a lifetime event.

The band are eager and excited to share this new material and are particularly looking forward to touring it. Their tour kicks off with the EP launch upstairs in Dolan’s on November 3rd.
