Rape Crisis Midwest will hold its annual Quiz Night on Friday, October 22.

Traditionally held in Thomond Park, the event moved online in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, where it will remain this year.

Kicking off at 8 pm, the quiz will consist of eight rounds, with an amazing selection of prizes up for grabs, including a €500 Dunnes Stores voucher.

Rape Crisis Midwest was founded in 1980 by a group of women and men concerned about the lack of services for survivors of rape and sexual abuse in Limerick.

Since then, Rape Crisis Midwest has provided extensive information, professional support and a quality counselling service to survivors of sexual abuse and violence throughout the Midwest region. The non-profit centre currently has over 150 volunteers.

The annual quiz night raises vital funds for Rape Crisis Midwest. With a yearly deficit of around €120,000, donations keep the crisis centre operating and providing services to those in need.

So far this year, Rape Crisis Midwest have received 1,216 helpline calls and arranged 2,123 service appointments in Limerick.

Quiz tickets cost just €5, or €20 per family, with the night enjoyable from the comfort and safety of home.

“From everyone here at Rape Crisis Midwest, we want to say a massive thank you to all those who have been involved in the past 9 years,” says volunteer Ellen Mullins.

“All the local businesses who have donated prizes, and our committee members – a fantastic team of volunteers who work so hard planning this event every year.”
