Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable presents an exciting new season of performances across both venues taking place from September 2024 to January 2025 including this year’s panto, Rapunzel

Launching at Treaty City Brewery on Monday 2nd September, guests were treated to a live performance from this year’s Lime Tree Theatre Panto cast member Hazel Park who plays Rapunzel, accompanied by Musical Director Noel Lennon.

The newly elected Mayor John Moran and Rapunzel show sponsors EI Electronics joined the Lime Tree Theatre staff and guests to officially open the busy autumn season.

After the tremendous success of the last two year’s performances, the Lime Tree Panto presents its 2024 title, Rapunzel. Written by Mike Finn and directed by Michael Finneran, the company are excited to present 34 family shows from December 8th 2024 to January 7th 2025. Returning Lime Tree Panto cast members Aidan Crowe, Jessica Bray, Cora Fenton, James Corr and Eleanor O’Brien, are joined by new recruits Hazel Park, Nigel Dugdale and a fantastic ensemble support cast.

Following a sensational preview run at Belltable, and a world premiere at Cork Midsummer Festival on the Everyman stage in 2023, Freefalling is back. Presented by Rough Magic and Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable, and written and performed by Georgina Miller and directed by Lynne Parker, Freefalling moves to the heights of the Lime Tree Theatre stage for two nights only from 26th – 27th September.

The annual Bualadh Bos Children’s Festival is also set to return from 2nd to 12th October. This year’s programme features performances and events by the very best national and international artists that are making theatre for young people including  Goodnight Egg by Bombinate Theatre, Story of a Day – Scéal Lae by Branar, The Dead Letter Office by Mary-Lou McCarthy and more. Shows ake place in Belltable, in schools, and in off-site venues including Limerick City Gallery and Dance Limerick.

The season features performances by well known and loved Limerick theatre companies, The Cecilian Musical Society, Torch Players, and College Players. From 20th – 23rd November The Cecilian Musical Society present their version of cult film The Wedding Singer (The Musical Comedy)  at Lime Tree Theatre,  Brighton by Torch Players comes to Belltable 17th – 19th October, and College Players perform All My Sons by Arthur Miller at Lime Tree Theatre 6th – 9th November.

Catherine Young Dance brings powerful contemporary dance to Lime Tree Theatre with Floating on a Dead Sea on Wednesday 23rd October, a documentary screening and stunning live performance inspired by Young’s trip to Palestine with her company in 2017 and again returning in 2019 with filmmaker Luca Truffarelli. With a cast of international dancers and stunning visuals, the moving performance places the audience in the footsteps of ordinary Palestinians.

Other highlights from the season include a new series of IFI@Belltable screenings starting with the hit Irish film Kneecap on 9th September, the Polish Arts Festival 26th-29th September, Indigestion by Seamus O’Rourke on 31st October, Johnny Sexton in Conversation on 1st November presented by I.NY, Irish National Opera’s Fledermaus on 8th February 2025, and much more to discover.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
