The Redemptorist Centre of Music Concert Band (RCM) is celebrating a remarkable achievement following their recent success at the prestigious Limerick International Band Championships 2025.

The RCM was awarded Best Local Band at the competition, a testament to the dedication, skill, and hard work of its 80-member band, ranging in age from just 7 years old to 70+.

The band, under the direction of Dr Andrew Jordan, proudly marched in three major parades: the Limerick Band Championships, the Limerick St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and the Adare St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Their energetic and inspiring performances earned them top honours, standing out in each of these key events during a truly festive St. Patrick’s Day season.

One of the most striking aspects of the RCM’s success is the incredible diversity of its members. The band boasts a range of ages, backgrounds, and experiences, with players hailing from a variety of nationalities and cultures. From young children and adults just starting their musical journey to seasoned musicians with decades of experience, the band’s members bring a wealth of perspectives to their performances. This diversity not only enriches their music but also reflects the inclusive, community-driven ethos that has become a hallmark of the Redemptorist Centre of Music.

The Redemptorist Centre of Music, based in Limerick, is a community-focused music centre offering a range of instrumental and performance training to musicians of all ages and skill levels.  The centre makes music accessible to all through its large scholarship programme and instrument bank.

All ages, abilities and backgrounds are catered for in an inclusive, friendly environment. The RCM now is permanent fixture in Limerick having established itself in 2010.

Dr. Andrew Jordan, the conductor and director of the band, expressed his pride in the group’s achievement. “This award is a reflection of the hard work, commitment, and passion each member of the RCM brings, not just on parade day but each and every week of the year,” said Dr. Jordan. “It’s been a truly special experience to see our new musicians making their debut with the band along with our seasoned musicians coming together, transcending backgrounds and nationalities, to create such a vibrant and powerful sound.”

The success at the Limerick International Band Championships 2025 marks an important milestone in the RCM’s calendar, reinforcing its status as a pillar of the local music community. With a rich tradition of musical excellence, the RCM continues to foster the next generation of musicians while celebrating the joy of music across Limerick and beyond.
