On Sunday, May 5th, 2024, the 2024 Regeneron Great Limerick Run saw a remarkable turnout with 14,000 participants taking to the streets. As the runners journeyed their way through the 26 mile course, a dedicated team of over 530 volunteers provided supervision, marshalling, assistance and support.

The Crescent Shopping Centre proudly sponsors the Volunteer program for this event, enabling the recognition and support of local volunteer groups from a diverse array of clubs and organizations. This sponsorship not only fosters community engagement but also helps these groups raise vital funds for their respective endeavours.

On Thursday afternoon representatives from several of these groups gathered at the Crescent Shopping Centre on Thursday afternoon to receive checks totalling over €20,000, presented by Brian O’Leary.

These groups fulfilled various crucial roles on race day, including distributing water to runners, presenting medals and refreshments at the finish area, and stewarding the route alongside assisting law enforcement. A total of 15 clubs and groups from diverse sports lent their support on the day.

Event Director, Sliabh Wells, reflected, “This event epitomises the power of collective effort. We’re incredibly fortunate to have a partner like the Crescent Shopping Centre. Without their devoted support, this event wouldn’t be possible. This event is such a success because of the support of a wide number of stakeholders including sponsors and local groups as demonstrated through this program”.
