50,000 people visited Limerick this May Bank Holiday weekend as it hosted the tenth annual Riverfest, which runs from May 2 to 5. Packed with a range of events, Riverfest is one of the high-points of the tourism year for the city and includes the return of firm favourites such as the Coors Light Riverfest BBQ Competition, which is now firmly established as Ireland’s leading barbecue event and attracts hundreds of entries; Fashion Friday; the Continental Fair which illustrates the city’s diversity in artisan foods and crafts; and a major fireworks display.
Riverfest Fashion Friday kicked off Limericks 10th Anniversary of Riverfest in style! The iconic Riverfest event has grown from previous years with more local stores involved than ever before. Riverfest teamed up with style queen Celia Holman Lee to showcase the best of Limerick city shopping with three free fashion extravaganzas featuring some of the city’s top boutiques. Two fashion shows showcasing the best of Limerick city fashion took place in a covered dome in the pedestrianised area of Thomas Street. Stores presented their Summer collections with hair by The Hugh Campbell Group and make up by Urban Decay at Debenhams. Models are from the Holman Lee Agency. Limerick fashion and style guru Celia Holman Lee is inviting all Limerick ladies to attend.
“There used to be a lovely tradition in Limerick that women would come into the city centre on Fridays, meet for a coffee and go shopping,” said Celia. “We have revived this tradition over the past few years by holding an event like Fashion Friday for Riverfest and it has become a tremendous success. It’s also an opportunity for everyone to enjoy themselves and to see the fantastic fashion that’s available in Limerick city stores. It’s the start of the May Bank Holiday and Riverfest weekend so we’re hoping that lots of women will come into Limerick for the festivities, enjoy the fashion, the atmosphere and the jazz!” she added.
