ILOVELIMERICK_LOW_SoapboxDerby_0063Take a trip down memory lane and relive the 50’s with The Riverfest Soapbox Derby when Denmark Street was transformed into a racetrack. The race saw the street filled with ‘homemade’ soapbox cars as people got out their measuring tapes and toolboxes out and dared to enter.

50,000 people will visit Limerick this May Bank Holiday weekend as it hosts the tenth annual Riverfest, which runs from May 2 to 5. Packed with a range of events, Riverfest is one of the high-points of the tourism year for the city and includes the return of firm favourites such as the Coors Light Riverfest BBQ Competition, which is now firmly established as Ireland’s leading barbecue event and attracts hundreds of entries; Fashion Friday; the Continental Fair which illustrates the city’s diversity in artisan foods and crafts; and a major fireworks display.

So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
