She said, “Just to be in a room with so many great people here tonight is an absolute honour and to be able to come away with this award tonight, it’s the end to a really great year.”

Róisín left her mark on the global stage at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games as she secured a silver and bronze medal, and narrowly missed out on a third medal in her final event of the Games.

Despite taking home both medals, Ní Riain’s drive and determination was evident when speaking about the experience as she said narrowly missing on the third medal has “fueled” her for the upcoming season.

She said, “To end on an event that I wasn’t happy with and I felt I had a bit more. At the time, I was obviously really frustrated with it, but I think, for me starting this next season, it’s given me that extra bit of motivation and given me something to train for and to motivate me for the next season and the next cycle, because I don’t want to feel that again.”

At just 19 years old, Róisín has made a mark on the swimming world and has inspired many young athletes to take to the water, the Limerick athlete had the honour of launching the 10th Limerick Island Swim this year and spoke to I Love Limerick about supporting swimming in the city.

She said, “It’s absolutely brilliant to be out here this afternoon at the Island Swim and to watch a really, really close finish there between two of the guys that I trained with on a day to day basis.

“It’s great to see them out here having a good time and I’ve got both my sisters in the water still to come in as well. To be out here today and to meet everyone out here has really been great.”
