Brid and Rachel will spend their time giving the children in Chernobyl as much care, love and attention as possible as they receive very little one to one attention from one end of the day to another.

In this country, the children are institutionalized as a result of being born with deformities, physical disabilities or mental problems caused either directly or indirectly from the radiation that was leaked out of the Nuclear reactor in Chernobyl 30 years ago this April.

Chernobyl Children International (CCI) was established by Adi Roche in 1991 to give support and hope to children living in the aftermath of the Chernobyl meltdown.

Over the past three decades, the charity has evolved to address the long-term medical and economic effects of this unprecedented nuclear catastrophe. As a direct result of the charity’s intervention, the lives of tens of thousands of children have been saved, prolonged or improved.

The Roses are funding their own expenses but are fundraising to give as much financial aid to the children in this particular Asylum.  Anyone that would like to donate can contact the Limerick Rose Facebook page or donate on either of the girls’ pages on My Charity.

So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
