Community comes together to repatriate Rosi Franco after her tragic passing in Vietnam with GoFundMe fundraiser
A fundraiser to help repatriate Rosimeiry ‘Rosi’ Franco, a 30-year-old woman living in Limerick, who tragically passed away in Vietnam has received more than 370 donations in just one day
The global community is coming together to support the family of Brazilian woman Rosimeiry Franco, a 30-year-old woman living in Limerick, who tragically passed away in Thủ Đức, Vietnam.
Rosimeiry, known as Rosi had been living in Limerick for several years sadly passed away while visiting Vietnam; and now her family are facing significant financial challenges as they seek to bring her home “for a proper farewell”.
Friends in Limerick and beyond, devastated by the news, have organised a GoFunMe fundraiser to help cover the costs of repatriating the young woman to her hometown, Boa Vista, from Vietnam.
“Rosi was a cherished part of our lives, always bringing joy and kindness to those around her,” the GoFundMe organisers wrote, saying, “Her family, who live modestly and are facing significant financial challenges, desperately wish to have Rosi brought back home for a proper farewell.”
The funds raised will go toward the costs of the funeral service, the formalities for repatriating Rosi’s body, and the airfreight expenses with the beneficiary of the fundraiser being Rosi’s brother, Luiz de Souza Franco.
Pleading for the help of all in the community, the organisers said, “In this time of grief, we are reaching out to our community for support. We need to raise funds to cover the cost of transporting Rosi back to her family, so they can say their final goodbyes and find some solace in this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference and help ease the burden on Rosi’s family.
“If you can find it in your heart to assist, please consider donating to our cause. Your generosity will forever be remembered and appreciated by Rosi’s family and all of us who loved her.”
Those wishing to contribute to the cause can do so through GoFundMe, with a target set for €20,000 and more than 370 donations made in just one day, the figure raised so far stands at €14,580.
Taking the opportunity to thank all of those for donating and sharing the cause, they said, “Your generosity will forever be remembered and appreciated by Rosi’s family and all of us who loved her.”
