Cliona’s Foundation, a Limerick-based national charity that provides financial assistance to families of seriously ill children, is set to benefit from the third annual ‘Run for Cliona’s’ 5km Fun Run on September 10th, 2026.

This business-to-business (B2B) fundraiser brings together Limerick’s professional community—including employees from neighbouring counties – across local SMEs and multinational firms. Jointly organised and fully sponsored by Metis Ireland Financial Planning, MHP Sellors Solicitors, and Forvis Mazars, the initiative directly supports families dealing with serious childhood illnesses.

The event will begin and end at The Clayton Hotel, with participants running a scenic 5km route across Shannon Bridge and along the Condell Road embankment before returning to the hotel. On site registration opens at 5pm, for a 6:30pm start, making it an ideal post-work event for participants of all fitness levels.  Online registrations are open now at https://eventmaster.ie/event/32Qjfx4tZW

With an entry fee of €25, all proceeds will go directly to Cliona’s Foundation. The first 100 registrants will receive a commemorative event T-shirt. Participants are also invited to stay afterwards for refreshments, light bites, and networking – offering a unique opportunity to connect with fellow professionals and running enthusiasts while supporting a meaningful cause.

Speaking at the launch at Limerick Chamber of Commerce, Paddy O’Halloran, Director, Metis Ireland, said, “Our ambition is to make the Run for Cliona’s a lasting tradition! We encourage families, clubs, and especially local businesses to get involved by participating or supporting the day. 100% of the proceeds go directly to Cliona’s Foundation who help families of seriously ill children. Together, we can establish the Fun Run as a highlight of the annual calendar — an event that grows stronger each year.”

Stephen Keogh, Managing Partner at MHP Sellors, added, “We are delighted to once again be involved in the Run for Cliona’s Foundation, with 2026 marking our third year supporting this fantastic event. On September 10th, we encourage everyone to swap their evening commute for a meaningful cause.

We are calling on businesses across the mid-west —from startups to multinationals and everything in between—to lace up and make a real difference. Whether you run, walk or simply take part, what matters most is showing up.

Organisations can support the event by covering their team’s entry fees or by making a contribution, as every step taken and every euro raised truly counts. The funds raised provide vital support to the families and children supported by Cliona’s Foundation.

Taking part is not only a great opportunity to meet new people and work towards a fitness goal, but also a chance to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of families facing the challenges of serious childhood illness.”

Nessagh Quinn, Director, Corporate Secretarial Services at Forvis Mazars, said, “Grassroots events like the Run for Cliona’s are the absolute lifeline keeping families afloat. We are challenging every business owner, corporate team, and individual across Limerick to show up, sign up, and support the Run which takes place on Thursday, September 10.

Giving up your time is about more than just fitness —it’s a powerful statement that no family in our community should face financial devastation alone while caring for a sick child. Let’s all sign up and lace up the trainers to support a wonderful cause, enjoy some post-run refreshments and networking – looking forward to seeing everybody at the Clayton on September 10th.

Remember! If you can’t make it, you can still support the Run by donating at the on the registration link.

Cliona’s Foundation has already delivered significant support to families across Ireland this year. CEO and Founder Brendan Ring highlighted the vital impact of the charity’s work:

“We are delighted to once again benefit from this wonderful event and are deeply grateful to Metis Ireland and MHP Sellors for their continued support, as well as Forvis Mazars for coming on board this year. In the absence of government funding, fundraising initiatives like this are a lifeline for us.”

“So far this year, up to the end of May, we have provided €185,000 in support to 74 families across 21 counties. We expect this to rise to more than 200 families and €500,000 by year-end. These families are facing immense emotional and financial challenges, and the support we provide makes a real and meaningful difference.”
