Limerick’s Sam Curran and Jake Lane brought home gold medals from the 2025 WMO European Muay Thai Championships

Limerick Eiremuaysiam Thaiboxing gym fighters, Sam Curran and Jake Lane, achieved the incredible feat of winning two gold medals at the 2025 WMO European Muay Thai Championships.
Sam, 13, and Jake, 18, both from Garryowen, represented the Limerick city centre gym at this year’s championships, taking on Spanish opponents in Sevilla, Spain, with the win adding a second Gold Medal for Sam, who took home gold in Cyprus.
The Limerick pair prepared diligently for this year’s championships, with their training not just a personal challenge but also a testament to the strength and unity of the WMO Irish Team, which comprised 10 fighters and their dedicated supporters and coaches.
Together, they travelled to Spain to test their skills against some of the best European opponents in the sport.
Both hailing from Garryowen, Sam and Jake have been training diligently at the Eiremuaysiam Thaiboxing gym located at 4 Pery Street. Under the expert guidance of Head Coach Robert Ng, Sam and Jake have honed their skills, preparing themselves for the rigours of international competition. The training environment at Eiremuaysiam is known for its focus on discipline, technique, and mental toughness, all of which are crucial in Muay Thai.
Their commitment to training and abilities to adapt to different fighting styles were key factors that contributed to their success in Spain
The championship itself was a thrilling experience, filled with intense bouts and fierce competition.
