This past weekend, young Limerick fighter Sam Curran, 12, achieved a remarkable feat by winning a gold medal at the annual WMO European Championships held in Limassol, Cyprus.
His journey to this prestigious Muay Thai event was not just a personal challenge but also a testament to the strength and unity of the WMO Irish Team, which comprised 14 fighters and their dedicated supporters. Together, they traveled to Cyprus to test their skills against some of the best European opponents in the sport.
Hailing from Garryowan, Sam has been training diligently at the Eiremuaysiam Thaiboxing gym located at 4 Pery Street. Under the expert guidance of Head Coach Robert Ng, Sam has honed his skills, preparing himself for the rigors of international competition.
The training environment at Eiremuaysiam is known for its focus on discipline, technique, and mental toughness, all of which are crucial in combat sports. Sam’s commitment to his training and his ability to adapt to different fighting styles were key factors that contributed to his success in Cyprus.
