Christmas at the Crescent Shopping Centre stepped up a gear as they welcomed the big man himself, Santa Claus, as hundreds gathered to welcome him bringing a festive atmosphere to the Limerick shopping centre.

Following the switching on of the Christmas lights event in November, making the biggest shopping complex outside of Dublin a winter wonderland, the Crescent was already buzzing with excitement for the Christmas period and the arrival of Santa Claus kicked the Christmas season into full gear.

Crescent Shopping Centre Manager, Brian O’Leary, said that there was a “great buzz around the place” as shoppers greeted Santa on his arrival.

Mr O’Leary shared his excitement and enthusiasm, saying, “The atmosphere, the buzz! We all love it. We love it, it doesn’t even feel like a job this time of year.”

During his arrival, Santa shared a few words with Richard Lynch from I Love Limerick, saying his arrival to the Crescent is a highlight and that “every year is fantastic”.

Santa Claus said, “Oh my God, every year is fantastic. Look at the crowds here. And we get a great welcome. And they’re all very good, all the kids and all that come in. Oh, they’re marvellous.”

Visitors can look forward to meeting Santa in his Candy Wonderland grotto; after you make your way down Candy Cane Lane you will get a chance to tell Santa what you would love for Christmas.

When asked what people can expect from their meeting with Santa this Christmas at the Crescent, Eimear Dwan, Marketing Manager at the Crescent Shopping Centre said, “Well, it’s actually a surprise! You enter through the Candy Cane Lane and into Santa’s Grotto and then you tell Santa what you want for Christmas. It’s very special, we hope everyone loves the Grotto. It’s truly magical!”

Santa extended a welcome to everyone to come and visit him at his Candy Wonderland grotto, saying, “Come on out and see me, I have lovely presents for all the boys and girls to come out to see me. I hope now they’ll be very happy with them; it will be very good for their mommy and daddy.”
Adding to the holiday cheer, the famous Coca-Cola Truck will stop by Crescent Shopping Centre on Sunday, December 8th, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Positioned in the City Mall Car Park (by Milanos), this classic Christmas attraction will make for a truly magical afternoon. Visitors can also enjoy a stunning custom ‘Crescent’ mural at the Garryowen Mall entrance, painted by local Limerick artist Patrick Hartnett. Be sure to stop by and capture a photo with this unique artwork celebrating Crescent Shopping Centre!
