Sarah Corbett Lynch is set to release her courageous memoir, ‘A Time for Truth: A Daughter’s Search for Justice and Healing’ this February 2025.
‘A Time for Truth: A Daughter’s Search for Justice and Healing’, the memoir of Limerick’s Sarah Corbett Lynch will be released by Hachette Ireland this February 2025, Sarah shares her story following the tragic events surrounding her father’s death in 2015 and her journey of grief, healing, and a search for justice.
The memoir tells the story of Sarah Corbett Lynch and that of her father Jason Corbett who was brutally killed by his wife, Sarah’s stepmother, Molly Martens and her father Tom Martens in the family’s North Carolina home on the night of 2nd August 2015. Sarah was eight years of age at the time and her brother Jack were asleep upstairs at the time.
In the memoir, Sarah reflects on her experience as a child who was put in the media spotlight following her father’s death and ‘A Time for Truth’ is Sarah’s opportunity to have her voice heard as she shares how her story was often told by others in the media.
“Since 2015, I’ve always had someone else tell my story,” Sarah said, continuing, “There are podcasts, documentaries, magazine articles and forums dedicated to uncovering the truth about my father’s killing, with so many front pages over the years that I lost count. All of which attempted to tell my story but without my words.
“I’ve had my truth distorted, twisted and changed because I was a child but the truth will always force its way into the light. My brother and I had our words weaponised against us by the people we had trusted and loved so they could mitigate their crime of killing the most important person in my life. They betrayed our trust to avoid consequences for their actions.
“In telling my story, I relive the emotion I felt sitting in court rooms as our family fought for justice and the heartbreak at every email sent to my family from across the world to deliver yet more disappointing news. Every teardrop that fell as I asked myself ‘why me?'”
Sarah explains ‘A Time for Truth’ will explore what she discovered inside herself “to keep fighting for justice for my dad”.
She said, “I am not the victim in my story nor am I the hero. I am the survivor and I want this book to show that anyone who has experienced trauma can survive too.”
Sarah has already made a mark as an author, at the age of 14 she released her children’s book ‘Noodle Loses Dad’ which helps young readers cope with grief and loss; by donating copies of ‘Noodle Loses Dad’ to schools and bereaved children, Sarah’s commitment to helping others navigate their grief by sharing what she learned from her experiences has been appreciated globally.
‘A Time for Truth’ is set to be released in February 2025 and promises to be powerful and inspiring, much like the author herself, sharing her story of resilience and healing, and above all her own truth.
