The Savoy Collection Limerick held an awards ceremony and staff event at House Limerick to celebrate its more than 200 members of the Savoy team.

Director of Operations, Altaf Khan, noted the importance of such events, saying, “some of the staff work very hard behind the scenes, in the kitchens, the cleaners, the porters, and many other positions, but this is a way for us to show we appreciate the work they do.”

The awards ceremony saw some comedic awards, such as “around the world in 80 days” for the company’s biggest jet-setter, but also recognised some individual achievements for staff that go above and beyond in their positions.

Altaf added, “There were more than 60 awards on the night, some humorous and some acknowledging the great work our staff are doing. They received their award, a certificate of appreciation and gifts including nights away and flights.”

Following a very busy Christmas period, Altaf said it is normal to hold their staff night in January and sometimes February, noting “things are on the up in Limerick, so we are hoping for a busy year ahead.”

The Savoy Collection Limerick Owner, Ronan Brannigan said the event was one way of showing gratitude to the hotel group’s staff, giving his thanks to a “passionate, kind, and hardworking” group by speaking about the “amazing pleasure” to meet the staff every day.

He said, “It is an amazing pleasure to meet you every day, to see what you do, to see the amazing growth – all young people – in your careers, the amazing things you do every day to welcome our guests as you progress through your careers either as students or full-time hospitality people with us.”

“It’s a journey,” he said, adding “it’s one I am enjoying immensely, watching you grow and become amazing professionals in the hospitality business.”

“Limerick is lucky to have you guys, we are also very lucky to have you, and that doesn’t go unnoticed,” he said, adding, “We thank you for it tonight, but we do thank you quietly every day.”

Both Mr Brannigan and Mr Khan extended their gratitude to the staff who couldn’t make the awards ceremony, including those who had to work at the Savoy Collection’s George Hotel, Savoy Hotel, and Hampton’s on the night of the awards.

“To all of our fellow workers who are not with us this evening, for whatever reason. And those who are working who are giving us the opportunity to come and have an amazing night’s fun, I want to salute them, not just for today but for the other 365 days of the year as well,” said Mr Brannigan.
