A second Limerick Says Welcome event has been organised for the city centre by the Limerick Anti-Racism Network (LARN)

The second Limerick Says Welcome event will be held on Sunday, August 31, at Baker Place in the city, running from 1pm to 4pm.
It will be a family fun day celebrating the wonderful diversity of Limerick city, and will include live music, games for children, face painting, and much more.
The event is being organised by the Limerick Anti-Racism Network (LARN). This is a broad network of individuals and groups whose activities are intended to promote inclusivity and to counter speech, narratives, and actions that serve to divide communities.
Speaking ahead of the event, the CEO of Doras, John Lannon, said, “We are delighted to join with others to show once again that Limerick is a welcoming place. People from all over the world have come here to work, to study, or to seek protection from war and oppression. We all need to work together to ensure that each and every one of them feels safe and at home in the city, regardless of how long they’ve lived here, or where they’ve come from.”
Ahead of the event, Limerick Ireland Palestine Solidarity Community shared the details on Instagram, saying, “Join Limerick Anti-Racism Network Sunday 31st August! Family fun day 1-4pm in Baker Place, the second Limerick Says Welcome event, to show our city is for everyone who lives here.”
Doras shared its message on social media, saying, “Join others to show how Limerick is a city that says YES to diversity, YES to refugees, YES to unity not division, YES to housing for all, and YES to inclusion. Celebrate all the wonderful people, from so many parts of the world, who now call Limerick home.”
LARN are inviting everyone to join in the fun and to meet some of the people from around the world who have made Limerick their home. The space will be safe and accessible for all as it will be free from traffic for the afternoon.
