Geraldine Tuite, Team Leader, Limerick City Community Safety Partnership, explained that the event was open to older people from across Limerick City and County as well those involved with the care of older people, from health professionals and housing officers through to home carers and community workers.

“This is the second occasion we have held one of these type of events for older people in Limerick. The success of the first event demonstrated the value of bringing statutory and voluntary organisations together to give information, advice and support to help older people stay safe and play a full part in their local community.”

The upcoming also featured raffles for items including energy saving light bulbs, torches, keep warm blankets and nightlights. Free refreshments will also be provided throughout the day. There will also be a giant hamper give away worth €150 at the end of the day.

The Limerick City Community Safety Partnership was established in 2006. A team of three Community Coordinators, who work in the Northside, Southside and Centre of the City, operate under the objectives of promoting community safety, improving the environment, promoting community spirit and raising awareness of the Partnership’s aims through education.
