Seo Le Cuidiu is Limerick’s newest homeless outreach service who aim to provide wholesome cooked dinner, food, and clothes to those who need it most. Seo Le Cuidiu is an Irish name that translates to ‘Here’s to Helping’ which is a very apt name for this helpful group of volunteers.

Their first outreach programme took place on Wednesday, September 30 and have now continued on twice a week.  This community organisation is out every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm at Debenhams on O’Connell Street in Limerick City every week.

On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s this voluntary group hands out fifty to sixty dinners which include, American style potato soup, Turkey and Ham, Chicken stir fry and many other dinners all donated to the group from the giving people of Limerick.

They also hand out many kiddie bags for the families that are suffering from food poverty and need their support. Along with giving out food and warm drinks to those who need them they also provide them with hats, scarfs, gloves, socks, toiletries, clothes, and sleeping bags.

Seo Le Cuidiú does not only work with the homeless that we see everyday but with the hidden homeless too. Sending food hampers to people who have no homes to live in and that are staying in hotels and hubs around Limerick without access to good foods for themselves or their families.

All of these things are possible because of the generous donations from the people of Limerick who offer anything they can to help the struggling people during this difficult time. The volunteers of Seo Le Cuidiú understand that this year has been difficult and not everyone can donate money, but if you are interested in donating food, clothes, or anything you think can help you can visit them outside of Debenhams on Tuesdays and Thursdays to give to them and to talk to them about the work they are doing to help the homeless people of Limerick.

Seo Le Cuidiú has said, “We aim to take to the street and offer hot food to the homeless in the streets of Limerick’s City. We are fully committed to helping as many people as we can but we need help to do this, any donations of food, clothes, etc would be gratefully received. Please contact us if you are in a position to donate.”
