2 men, 2 Kayaks, 2 tents, 364 Km of the River Shannon for Down Syndrome.

Andrew Bradley and Kevin O’ Donovan are over half way through their challenging and exciting trip up the Shannon having left Belleek Co. Cork on May 1st . The two men will paddle their Kayaks a total of 364 Km, camp out each night on route and cook their own meals by the camp fire as they go! All of this is in aid of Down Syndrome Limerick and Down Syndrome Cork for which they hope to raise in excess of €20,000. These courage’s men concluded their trip of the Shannon in Limerick on Saturday the 17th of May at the Locke Bar, where they were welcomed with a Summer BBQ, live music, a big party but most importantly of all by friends and supporters. They arrived exhausted but delighted with the achievement. They raised over €24000 for Down Syndrome Limerick and Cork!

Down Syndrome Limerick provides services to persons with Down Syndrome and their families in Limerick City and County and the bordering parts of Clare and Tipperary. It is a not for profit charity run by parents and provides a wide variety of services such as Speech and Language Therapy which is provided both in the Castletroy Centre and in the Desmond College Newcastlewest. It also provides Latch on literacy programme for teenagers and young adults, junior arts club, Saturday club for young adults, Hip Hop for all ages, Parentlink support for new parents and a variety of information evenings and coffee mornings for parents. As Andrew and Kevin have funded this event themselves all proceeds will go directly to the Limerick and Cork Branch.
