Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau promote Limerick & Clare as a top class Business Tourism destination

It’s been a busy start to 2019 for Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau where they were not only building their local ambassador programme but also found the time to head to the UK and US to promote the region for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) business.

The Shannon Bureau promotes the Shannon Region as a location for business and sports tourism and offers an entirely free service to event organisers and local ambassadors to help increase the Clare and Limerick regions share of the lucrative international business and sports tourism market.

The Shannon Bureau recently attended Conference & Incentive Travel (C&IT) Magazine A-Lister Awards in the Savoy Hotel London. The bureau had the chance to promote Limerick and Clare as a top class Business Tourism destination, to the top 35 under 35 event planners in the UK.

C&IT has partnered with Meet In Ireland, Failte Ireland’s Business Tourism brand, to invite the top 35 event professionals under 35 over to the Island of Ireland for a Familiarisation Trip, which will be featuring the Shannon Region in the coming months. The event organisers will get the chance to experience a flavour of what the Shannon Bureau can offer when it comes to bringing an international conference or event to either Limerick or Clare.

The Shannon Bureau also recently attended a Meeting & Incentive Forum in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Bureau met over 55 meeting planners promoting the Shannon Region, counties Limerick & Clare, as a Business Tourism destination.

Holly English, Business Development Executive for the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau said, “We had huge interest in the Shannon Region from U.S buyers at M&I Forum, having an international airport in Shannon with preclearance as well as some of the best hotels in the world a short distance away, makes the Limerick/Clare area a stand out choice for their clients.”

Meanwhile, Dublin Convention Bureau celebrated its 10th Anniversary of its Meet Dublin in London event and invited Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau to join them aboard The Silver Sturgeon on The Thames with over 250 UK agency, corporate and association conference buyers.

“This is a flagship event that Dublin Convention Bureau host annually and is firmly set in meeting planner calendars from year to year.  We were delighted to be able to attend and promote the Wild Atlantic Way as an option for delegates or an East Meets West programme starting in Dublin and finishing in Shannon Region. We were overwhelmed with the interest,” said Karen Brosnahan, General Manager Shannon Bureau.

Hundreds of ambassadors have been actively working with the Bureau in recent years to help attract thousands of people to the region through a range of business and sports events.
