Limerick model Shauna Lindsay has joined the Focus Ireland team for the Barrington’s Hospital Great Limerick Run and the public are now being urged to sign up for the event on the 1st of May to raise funds for the charity’s work to tackle and prevent homelessness in Ireland.
With over 14,000 participants in 2015, the event has experienced phenomenal growth since it began in 2010 and is now the largest race event in Ireland outside of the Dublin City Marathon!
Focus Ireland is one of the official charity partners of this years’ race and the homeless charity is asking the public to take part in the run and raise vital funds and awareness for homelessness in Ireland.
The charity has highlighted the importance of fundraising events like this in raising much needed money for Focus Ireland which is on the frontline of the homeless crisis. Focus Ireland Limerick Manager Ger Spillane said, “Over 1800 children and 884 families are now homeless in Ireland and with the crisis continuing to deepen we need the public’s support to help us meet the huge demand for our services around the country. Focus Ireland is working hard to support families move out of homelessness into secure housing but we need the public’s help to keep our services going and to help us support the families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. We’re asking people across the country to join the Focus Ireland team and take part in the run on the 1st of May, by doing so you can really make a difference to the lives of those affected by homelessness.”
Meanwhile the charity is reminding the public that there’s a race to suit all levels and you can enter as a team or an individual – the deadline for registering is the 22nd of April and there’s a 10% discount on the entry fee to all Focus Ireland participants.
