Siemens computer software company, who specialises in 3D and 2D Product Lifecycle Management Software, has announced a huge €7 million investment which will create 25 highly skilled jobs in Shannon.
The Shannon operation of Siemens currently employs 150 staff in areas such as Cloud Infrastructure, Software Development, Application Security, DevOps, HPC and EDA.
The investment marks the latest endorsement of Shannon Free Zone’s status as a centre of excellence for High-Performance Computing and Cloud Software Development.
The expansion will include a new research and development facility focusing on high-performance computing in the cloud for semiconductor design. The new project offers an opportunity for Siemens to work on its latest technologies while benefiting from the work life balance delivered by hybrid working in the Midwest.
The expansion project is the first ‘Cloud EDA’ R&D group to be established by the company and is supported by IDA Ireland.
“We are excited about the new R&D division in Shannon focusing on cloud development,” said Joe Sawicki, VP Engineering, Siemens EDA.
“The cloud represents a step change in capability for our electronic design automation customers and harnessing its potential will be key for our continued success.”
“Siemens is a longstanding employer in the Mid-West region. The addition of this new R&D function and the associated transformational impact on the position of the Irish site within the global organisation is significant,” said Denis Curran, head of property and regional development.” Commented Denis Curran, head of property and regional development, IDA Ireland.
