Limerick influencer and entrepreneur, Sinead O’Brien, tied the knot with her partner of nine years, Simon Fitzgerald, on Friday, September 6, 2024 with a small ceremony in Limerick City.

The couple, who live in Mungret, officially wed at a low-key ceremony on Friday ahead of their larger wedding which takes place in Portugal later this September.

Announcing their marriage on social media, Sinead shared the news with her more than 125,000 Instagram followers in a series of posts; beginning with a touching tribute to her father who sadly passed away in March 2023 as she shared an image of a bouquet wrapped in his tie, saying, “Let’s walk this one together Dad”.

The following post had the simple message of, “Just Married,” with a picture of the happy couple sharing a kiss on the steps of King John’s Castle.

Sinead O’Brien, a Patrickswell native and founder of the fashion brand Vacious by Sinead, wore a white mini dress from The Little White Dress boutique in Limerick, paired with sparkling stilettos, and had her makeup done by Aoife O’Connor with hair by Obsessed Hair Salon.

The proud Limerick couple were happy to have the Treaty City as the setting for their wedding day, Sinead writing, “Our beautiful hometown of Limerick provided the perfect backdrop for our wedding gallery, the biggest thank you to Barbara Meany for the most beautiful ceremony. It was just so special.”

Sinead’s followers were treated to some beautiful moments between the newlyweds with one set of images thanking Katie Daly’s Pub, saying the “Guinness was scrumptious” as the two shared some celebratory pints at the heritage pub on Castle Street on King’s Island.

The couple, who got engaged in October 2023 when Fitzgerald proposed during an Andrea Bocelli concert in Germany, welcomed their first child, Jacob, in June 2022.

The couple’s Portuguese wedding promises to be the true celebration of their love, with the September 25 ceremony marking the start of their new chapter as husband and wife.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online.
