The most iconic Irish artist in history, most well known for her breath taking cover of Prince’s ‘Nothing Compare 2 U’ Sinead O’Connor is back with a new heart stopping album, ‘I’m Not Bossy I’m the Boss’.
It’s true to say that sometimes words aren’t enough to tell a story and this is couldn’t be more true when it comes to O’Connor’s new album. This talented Irish superstar has found a way to mix vocals and melody to create a vivid image of these songs in our heads.
The first song of the album,’ How About I Be Me (And You Be You)’, the title of her previous album from 2012 and one of the many highlights of this amazing jazzy rock album, is one of romance and love which speaks to millions of people worldwide and is the perfect song to reflect upon her thirty years in the music business.
For anyone who doubts the return of this amazing, home grown, sensation then take a listen to ‘Dense Water Deeper Down’ and you’ll be instantly taken in. Anyone can write a song these days but it takes real talent to create real music. This jazzy song will have you nodding along and is one of those amazing tunes that will be stuck in your head for weeks on end!
Without a doubt the song that stands out the most on the album is the amazing ‘Take Me To Church’. Sinead has explained: “The character has had a profoundly distressing experience with the man of her dreams from which she is ultimately able to not only salvage herself but give birth to herself, coming to the conclusion, “I am only one I should adore.” This brilliantly orchestrated song is bound to sore and is definitely a song that will appeal to music lover everywhere.
And yes, a 20 year old music junkie listening to Sinead O’Connor may sound odd to some but come on this is an Irish rockstar who’s had nine solo albums, sold millions of albums and even took on Miley Cyrus…and won! (She is the boss after all!)
‘I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss’ combines a mixture of themes and genres yet still the iconic voice Sinead possess stays intact and distinct throughout. The album itself features twelve truly sensational tracks and if I’m honest this album could be her best one yet. Get your hands on a copy now.
