SMI Transition Year Fashion Show 2019 promises to be the best yet!
It was time to get your fashionable selves in gear again as transition year students and staff from Scoil Mhuire agus Ide in Newcastle West will present the SMI Transition Year Fashion Show 2019 at the school on Thursday, March 14. The show will feature the 2019 spring collections from over 11 boutiques including menswear and sportswear with all proceeds from the night contributed towards the funding SMI’s highly successful Transition year programme.
The shows previous years have been a huge success, both for the school and for local businesses, which is especially important in these financially difficult times. Teachers along with other staff of SMI were busy coordinating this year’s event, and it was a fun-filled night with students and teachers working the catwalk and incredible musical performances by the students.
Teacher Neasa Harris said, “The theme of the SMI Transition Year Fashion Show 2019 is ‘The Greatest Showman’ and transition year students in SMI have joined forces with Pay it Forward Limerick to spread kindness throughout our school. The committee along with all TY students have spearheaded a number of kindness initiatives throughout the school. We hope to make SMI one of the kindest schools in the country. As part of Pay it Forward we have watched ‘The Greatest Showman’ movie. The theme of this movie is that we are all equal, irrespective of colour, gender, disability, and social status. All of us are unique in our right, and this uniqueness and individuality should be celebrated and shine through. We have chosen to use The Greatest Showman as the theme for our fashion show to celebrate the unique and individual talents that we all have. As always we have a dedicated organisational team who are working hard to ensure a great night of fun and fabulous fashion. We are very lucky in NCW to have an extensive range of beautiful boutiques. Local businesses have sponsored beautiful spot prizes.”
The show will be hosted by Richard Lynch of ilovelimerick who has hosted it for many years and says, “This show is one of the highlights of my year. Over the years I have seen many of the students grow up and love to return every year. What a wonderful school and what an amazing community in Newcastle West who greet me every year with open arms.”
Tickets are available for 10 euro at the door, and the cheese and wine reception will start at 7 pm.
