Pancake Tuesday took place on 13th February this year and to celebrate it Limerick Mental Health Association hosted the Smiley Pancake campaign. This year the Limerick Mental Health Association Smiley Pancake campaign was hosted by three of the best hotels in the city, the Savoy Hotel, the George Hotel and the Strand Hotel.
The way it works is simple, as you just need to pop a smile on your pancake with a topping of your choice and then make a donation to Limerick Mental Health Association.
The event was a major success with a huge turnout from everyone looking to support the Limerick Mental Health Association.
Claireann McKeown from the Limerick Strand Hotel said, “We are delighted to be associated with the Limerick Mental Health Association for Pancake Tuesday 2018, the concept is fun and heart-warming and we are delighted to be able to support such a worthy cause, that is so close to many peoples heart.”
Claire Flynn project manager of Limerick Mental Health Association said “We really appreciate the support for our organisation from these wonderful Limerick Hotels. Their names are synonymous with high standards of care and quality service. Their support of this campaign will allow us to continue our commitment to promoting positive mental health to the people of Limerick.”
Limerick Rose, Kayleigh Maher commented, “I think it’s absolutely incredible, its little things like this that can make a major difference in mental health, which is always a good thing. Jacinta and her team here at the Savoy and the George are doing amazing work, bringing it to Limerick.”
Jacinta Khan, group social media manager of the George Hotel and Savoy Hotel, “I love the idea of smileys, smiley-faced pancakes especially, because of all the emoji’s we use in social media now, we’ve become so familiar with smiley faces, so I thought it was a really good, catchy idea, to help raise awareness. It’s a fun thing to do and it’s for a brilliant cause.”
